  1. Earlier in the evening, Rihanna—who wore a dramatic white lace gown with a large bow placed on the front—told reporters assembled on the red carpet that what keeps her motivated and continually moving forward in all areas (music, fashion, her philanthropic work) is a certain restlessness: “I can’t sit still. I get bored. So I have to keep doing something.” She said right now she likes “a bit of everything,” in terms of music, and disclosed she is working on new material right now, don’t worry. What area might she delve into next, having conquered beauty and fashion in addition to music? “Should I tell you?,” she said with a laugh, covering her mouth. “Maybe furniture? But I need time for that.”

  5. The first night of the 2018 iHeartRadio Festival at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas was, by and large, as upbeat and celebratory as intended, although there were a couple of implicitly dramatic moments having to do with how people deal with trauma and loss and move on. There was less emotion through the rest of the four-hour-plus evening although there was “Emotions,” an early peak in the climactic set by Mariah Carey, who was on familiar ground here, having recently wrapped up yet another Vegas residency. Familiarity does not breed any kind of indifference, at least among fellow celebrities, as virtually every performer or presenter Variety surveyed backstage named Carey as the artist they were most excited about seeing on the evening’s bill. When we posed that question to Panic! At the Disco frontman Brendan Urie, he was instantaneous with his answer: “Dude, Mariah! I want to kiss her feet and the ground she walks on. She’s goddess. I want to hear those whistle tones.” He then proceeded to break into a pretty good approximation of those “Emotions” high notes that pierced the hallways. The evening could have just as easily carried a #VegasSilly hashtag, with Rae Sremmurd being about anything but sobriety, and Kygo closing out the bill with a guest-filled DJ set that had Miguel and others emerging for cameos as the crowd dwindled down to a post-Mariah chosen few.
  6. Kimberly Thompson, Beyoncé’s former drummer, has filed for a civil harassment restraining order against Beyoncé, The Blast reports and court records viewed by Pitchfork confirm. According to documents obtained by the Blast, Thompson alleges that Beyoncé is practicing “extreme witchcraft” and “magic spells of sexual molestation” to harass her. Among other allegations, Thompson also claims that Beyoncé “murdered my pet kitten.” Records viewed by Pitchfork show that Thompson had a request for a temporary restraining order denied by Los Angeles Superior Court on September 19. There is currently a restraining order hearing scheduled for October 11. Pitchfork has contacted Kimberly Thompson and representatives for Beyoncé. Along with her work with Beyoncé, Kimberly Thompson also played drums in the Fred Armisen-led house band for the first season of “Late Night With Seth Meyers.” https://pitchfork.com/news/beyonces-ex-drummer-files-for-restraining-order-alleging-extreme-witchcraft/
:atrevia: :atrevia:
  8. Football fans, get ready to rock. While there’s no telling which two teams will face off when Super Bowl LIII hits Atlanta, Georgia, on February 3, a source tells Us that Maroon 5 have been tapped to grace the halftime stage. “The offer has been extended and they’ve pretty much accepted,” says the insider in the latest issue of Us Weekly. It’s a dream come true for Adam Levine and his six bandmates. As the Voice coach told Howard Stern in 2015, “We very actively want to play the Super Bowl”. Though at the time the 39-year-old frontman denied rumors that the group was in talks to play the big game that year, he also told Stern they had been on a “short list” of groups for a while. Currently on tour promoting their 2017 album, Red Pill Blues, the band has a break from shows in between a Las Vegas New Year’s Eve gig and the February 19 start of the Australian leg of their tour — leaving their schedules wide open for the February 3 game.
  9. Demi Lovato's mom opens up about the singer's overdose and not knowing for 'two days if she was going to make it or not' Demi Lovato’s mother is speaking out about the singer’s overdose for the first time. With Lovato’s permission, Dianna De La Garza talked with Newsmax TV and recounted the terrifying moment in July when she learned of her daughter’s overdose. She also revealed just how serious the life-or-death incident was, sharing that Lovato was in “critical condition” for two days. De La Garza is trying to bring awareness of the opioid epidemic sweeping America. “It’s still a really difficult thing to talk about. I literally start to shake a little bit when I start to remember what happened that day,” she began. “I was actually looking at my phone and all these texts started coming in.” De La Garza could see the first lines of the flood of messages saying things like, “‘I just heard the news, I’m so sorry, I’m praying for your family, I’m praying for Demi.’ I was in shock. I thought, what is going on? … My heart just dropped.” Soon, her phone rang. “I got a phone call from Demi’s assistant at the time, Kelsey. … I answered the phone and Kelsey was rambling like she had obviously been through something terrible, and she said, ‘I need to tell you what’s going on … you’re going to see a report come out.’ I stopped her and said, ‘Kelsey, just tell me what’s going on.’ The next words that came out of her mouth were words … that are so difficult to hear as a parent,” De La Garza recalled. “She said Demi overdosed. So I was in shock, I didn’t know what to say. It was something I never, ever expected to hear as a parent about any of my kids. … I said, ‘Is she OK?’ And she stopped for a second and she said, ‘She’s conscious, but she’s not talking.’ I knew at that point that we were in trouble.” De La Garza and her other daughters rushed to the hospital to which Lovato had been transported. “We ran into the emergency room to be by her side, and she just didn’t look good, at all,” she remembered. “She was in bad shape, but I said to her, ‘Demi, I’m here. I love you.’ At that point, she said back to me, ‘I love you too.’ From that point on, I never allowed myself to ever think that things weren’t going to be OK.” Lovato was in “critical condition” for a “couple of days.” “We just didn’t know for two days if she was going to make it or not,” De La Garza said. “I was very concerned, and I was trying to be strong for her and for her sisters and for my family back home. … I just feel like the reason she’s alive today is because of the millions of prayers that went up that day.” De La Garza also thanked the doctors at Cedars-Sinai: “I couldn’t have asked for a better team of people to save her life.” It’s the first we’ve heard just how dire the July 24 situation was. At the time, reports claimed that Lovato was hospitalized for an extended period of time due to “complications.” After 10 days, she was released from the hospital and immediately entered rehab. Lovato has been seeking treatment ever since. “I can honestly say today that she is doing really well,” De La Garza added. “She’s happy, she’s healthy, she’s working on her sobriety, and she’s getting the help she needs. That in itself encourages me about her future and the future of our family.” Lovato’s mother said she’s now become an “accidental spokeswoman” for the opioid crisis after going through this terrifying ordeal. “You don’t see it coming, and that’s the scary thing,” she explained. “The opioid crisis in America is at an epidemic level, and people don’t understand that until they start researching it. … After this happened, I started researching and looking into how opioids are killing our kids. … Every 15 minutes someone dies from an overdose.” She concluded, “I want to do whatever I can in this fight and fight with whoever will help me.” It hasn’t been confirmed what Lovato overdosed on, but a source maintained to Yahoo Entertainment that it wasn’t heroin, contrary to TMZ’s initial report. It’s believed to have been oxycodone laced with fentanyl. Before entering rehab, Lovato made a statement to her fans vowing to “keep fighting.”
  10. Ariana Grande Misses Emmys, Plans to 'Take Some Much Needed Time to Heal' After Difficult Year Ariana Grande is taking some time to focus on herself. While the 25-year-old singer was expected to attend the 2018 Emmy Awards after a preliminary seating chart for Monday’s show made the rounds on Twitter over the weekend, Grande stayed at home in New York City with her fiancée, Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson. “Contrary to reports, Ariana will not be attending the Emmys tonight,” her team tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Pete has also opted to not attend to be with her in New York.” The awards show comes 10 days after Grande’s ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, died of an apparent overdose; he was 26 years old. In addition to Miller’s death, Grande continues to cope with anxiety and PTSD after a suicide bomber killed 22 people and injured more than 500 in a terrorist attack at the Manchester show of her Dangerous Woman Tour on May 22, 2017. “Given the events of the past couple of years, Ariana is going to take some much needed time to heal and mend,” her team adds. “She will be staying close to home and using this period to spend time with her loved ones and work on new music without deadline. She thanks her fans for their understanding.”
  11. Christina Aguilera y Britney Spears.
  13. Madonna ‘Livid’ Gaga’s New Movie ‘A Star Is Born’ Garnering Oscar Buzz, Report Claims The Material Girl ‘always wanted to be a movie star.’ Lady Gaga is already earning rave views for her new film A Star Is Born, but her nemesis Madonna isn’t exactly thrilled with her cinematic success! A source told “Straight Shuter” podcast host Rob Shuter that “Madonna is livid” over the “Poker Face” singer hitting it big in Hollywood, because she’s the one who “always wanted to be a movie star.” However, stinging reviews always torpedoed 60-year-old Madge’s silver screen aspirationsOpens a New Window. and her career never really took off. Now watching 32-year-old Gaga garner Oscar buzz has made passing the baton as a multi-talented entertainer even harder for Madonna, who sunk instead of swam in films like the 2002 bomb Swept Away. If Gaga actually scores an Academy Award, sources warned: “Madonna will cancel her Oscar party” and “go straight to bed with tears!” Fuente: RadarOnline
  16. He may have won the Pulitzer Prize for music for his 2017 album ‘DAMN.’ earlier this year, but rumours have already began to circulate that Kendrick Lamar could already be hard at work on the album’s follow up. Isaiah Rashad - who is signed to Kendrick’s label Top Dawg Entertainment - has suggested during a recent Instagram Live session that a new album could be in the works after revealing that he’d heard a ”whole dot album, damn near”. (‘Dot’ is an abbreviation of Kendrick’s nickname K-Dot.) He also seemed to give updates on new releases from Schoolboy Q and SZA saying: “[scHoolboy] Q finna drop. SZA’s hair is green, so you know it’s going to be fire… you never know what’s going to happen.” You can see the whole video below. Last week, Anthony Tiffith, the head of Top Dawg Entertainment, hinted that 2018 is still set to see at least two (and maybe four) more releases on the label, so it’s possible that one of them could be a new Kendrick album. Either way, we’re excited for whatever he does next.
  17. Ariana Grande's Success With 'Sweetener' Marks a Rare New Peak for a Late-'10s Pop Star It's significant to see Grande's ascending to new heights in 2018 simply because not many of her pop star peers are doing so alongside her. If you look at most of the other major pop figures from Grande's early days, most of them have taken a step back in terms of their mainstream presence in the last couple years. Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, and Justin Timberlake are all coming off projects whose commercial returns were highly underwhelming compared to expectations, and while the most recent albums by Lorde, Kesha and P!nk all sold fairly well and received a decent amount of critical acclaim, none really re-cemented their respective artists' presence on the Hot 100 or mainstream radio, where they were fixtures with previous efforts. Even Taylor Swift, once the standard-bearer of too-big-to-fail pop largesse, experienced a notable (if hardly calamitous) downturn in top 40 omnipresence with 2017's Reputation. While her peers and predecessors find themselves victim to changing tastes and trends within the pop landscape, Ariana continues to rise untouched above them. Finally, it's noteworthy what kind of album Grande is doing all of this with. Sweetener is the pop star's most mature and personal album, an emotional meditation on love and fear and security that is in spots deliriously happy and in others almost unbearably anxious, with her experiences following the Manchester attack and her blossoming love with Davidson both clear points of inspiration. And while the set's R&B-inflected pop sound is still recognizably Grande's, it's also perhaps her least explicitly commercial album to date. Sweetener features few pop explosions or obvious radio crossovers on the level of "Break Free" and "Problem" (or "Into You" and "Side to Side") -- even cathartic lead single "No Tears" feels somewhat left-field, riding an early-'90s hybrid dance/R&B swing rather than a pounding 4/4 EDM propulsion or a more 2018-friendly trop-house bounce -- instead opting for more intimate, restrained production and lyrics that largely eschew grand statements for private sentiments. While some fans have decried the set's lack of obvious bangers, many have already fallen for the album's off-kilter charms -- shepherded sonically in large part by fellow pop weirdo Pharrell Williams -- while critically, the set has attracted arguably Grande's strongest set of reviews yet. The album has also benefited from the strong branding of Grande's distinctive upside-down font used to promote the album on social media, as well as the eye-popping, narrative-forwarding visuals for "No Tears" and "God," and a rollout that has built smartly over the course of several months without becoming totally overwhelming, and peaked at the exact right time, of VMAs week. For Ariana to hit new commercial benchmarks while also reaching new artistic heights, on the back of a promotional campaign that established this as a new and unique era in her evolution -- well, that's what pop stardom is supposed to be, isn't it? Of course, it's no secret that pop supermacy, as we understood it at the beginning of the '10s, is not what it once was as we near the decade's end. The days of the star-powered, svengali-directed, radio-driven dance-pop anthem as the core element of music mainstream's are largely over, with radio replaced by streaming, the svengali replaced by the freelance super-producer, and dance-pop mostly replaced by hip-hop. But that just makes it all the more impressive how Grande has continued to defy gravity while so many of her pop peers have fallen around her. By growing her sound without completely overhauling it, by overcoming tragedy and coming back more of a force than ever, she's managed to reach 2018 as one of music's biggest and best-loved stars. And there's no reason to think we couldn't be having the same conversation about her in 2023, either.
  18. “I feel like, at some point, me and Drake need to do something, I feel like that has to happen at some point.”
